There is an increasing need for youth to develop their social-emotional skills. Yoga is a lifetime activity that has so many benefits for students of any age and helps teach these skills. Integrating social emotional learning strategies such as mindfulness and breathing techniques creates a holistic physical education curriculum. Learn how Columbia Public Schools has implemented a Yoga & Mindfulness course at three high schools. Hear the benefits this course has brought to both students and teachers alike. Get ideas to include SEL strategies into your Physical Education classes. Gain understanding on how these activities and assessments that compliment them meet our state and national standards. Led by Dr. Kim Goforth, Curriculum Director at Columbia Public Schools for Health & PE K-12 and Candice Swee, Physical Education Teacher at Rock Bridge High School & 200-hour RYT.
